The City of Bowling Green works every day to fulfill its mission of being “Community Led, Service Driven, and Powered by Growth.” They were recognized recently for their hard work by the nonprofit organization Kentucky League of Cities. Bowling Green was awarded the title of City Government of the Year.
Bowling Green’s mayor, Todd Alcott, says the city is honored to be recognized. “To me, this is an example of really recognizing our entire city, mainly our employees, but it goes beyond that,” he said. “It’s our entire community, and when we all pull together, we can accomplish incredible things.” The new title also recognizes Bowling Green’s huge economic growth. The city averages eight ribbon cuttings a month due to growth in companies and population. Some of these recent accomplishments include creating a training hub for emergency responders, improving the appearance of the interstate through the BeautifI-65 project, and participating in the BRAAD Anchor Project, a multi-million dollar project focusing on mental health and addiction recovery. The new Life Navigation Center was also opened to help the unhoused population.
